LESSON FEE

Lesson fees are billed by school term. At the beginning of each term, an invoice will be sent to the designated email address. Lesson fees will be billed in accordance with the amount of weeks in the school term less any foreseeable absence (e.g. teacher’s other commitment or students’ holiday plan).

STUDIO / LESSON BEHAVIOUR

  • All students must respect the teacher and follow all instructions
  • All students are to cherish and appreciate the instruments used in the studio. No kicking on the piano. No punching on the keys. No playing on the piano until the teacher instructs you to.
  • Anyone in the waiting area is expected to wait quietly and patiently. No feet on the table or chair. Sit properly. Do not touch anything else other than your own personal belongings. Keep the waiting area neat and clean.
  • All students must arrive on time. Lesson will not be compensated if you are late for any reasons. However, if the teacher is running late, the lesson will still be conducted to the full duration as scheduled.
  • Should the parents need to discuss an issue with the teacher, the parents must inform the teacher before the lesson starts so the teacher can allocate time for the discussion without delaying the next schedule.

PRACTICE AND PARENTAL SUPPORT

  • All enrolled students are expected to have sufficient and regular practice consistently to guarantee progress in their musical learning journey. Parental support and encouragement is an extremely important and crucial factor in musical training, especially those whose child/children are younger than 7 years old.
  • Students who fail to show commitment in their practice and progress may have their lessons terminated. This studio will not accept any students who do not appreciate piano and learning.

MISSED LESSON / CANCELLATION / MAKE-UP LESSON

  • 5 hours’ notice is required if a lesson is to be cancelled due to sickness.
  • Same-day cancellations need to be notified via SMS or phone call, not email.
  • If a lesson is missed and the teacher is already scheduled, no make-up lesson or refund will be arranged for this missed lesson. This includes no-shows.
  • If the teacher is sick and the studio is unable to substitute the lesson, the lesson fee paid may be used as a credit against payment for next term IF a make-up lesson cannot be scheduled. No refund will be arranged.
  • Make-up lessons will only be scheduled should the studio have availability.

TERMINATION OF LESSON

  • The studio and the teacher can choose to terminate lessons due to negative behaviour, failure to practice or failure to comply with studio policy and etiquette.
  • Any termination initiated by the student or parent requires 1 week written notice (email or letter ) and any outstanding amounts (book fees / lesson fees) need to be paid in full

PHOTOGRAPHY / SOCIAL MEDIA / WEBSITE

  • There may be opportunities for the students to be photographed or filmed. These images may be used for publicity within Seriously Piano (newsletter, website, presentations, social media, flyers and information handouts).
  • By agreeing to the studio policy, you give permission for images of your child/children to be used for publicity by Seriously Piano.
  • If you do not agree to such policy, you must inform and discuss with Kristy in writing.

BOOK / MATERIAL FEE

  • Book and material fees are not included in the lesson fees and must be paid for once an invoice is sent

REFERRAL

  • If you refer a new student to the studio and the student signs up, pays and attends one term of lessons, you will be entitled to a $10 discount on your next payment.

INCENTIVE / AWARD SYSTEM

  • The studio does not give discounts for “sibling“ or “longer lesson“ as the teacher inputs the same amount of effort in teaching, regardless of who and for how long. However, should a student attend a full term of lessons without any negative behaviour, they will be entitled to a $5 discount next term. We call this the “Good Student Discount“.
  • The “10 sticker for 1 present” award system will be replaced by the new award system explained below:

When a student comes to the lesson showing sufficient practice being done at home along with good behaviour in class, the student will be given SEMIQUAVERS to collect. Different rhythm values will attract different presents. The student can choose when to redeem their rhythm at any time.
